Gary Gagnon, Metis knowledge keeper, talks about the sacred land on which we are standing and the long history of the Indigenous peoples gathering for healing, for strengthening their faith through the intercession of Mary and Anne, the kookum of Jesus.

Upon arrival, the participants were invited to walk “gently” on the sacred ground of the pilgrimage site, after which we lived an experience of prayer by the lake. The four elements of fire, earth, water and air were at the heart of our celebration.

Dr. Fred, as he is fondly known by many, and two of our Ugandan members barbecued hamburgers for us. Everyone brought food to complete our feast.
