A new comunity in Ecuador

Sisters Miren Anda, Mercedes Orelllana and Ana Urdaniz are biginning a new missionnary in Ecuador, in Esmeraldas-capitale.

The region of Esmeraldas is rich in natural resources with flourishing vegetation, but it is also one of the poorest regions in Ecuador. There are many races and cultures living together in this territory. The black population, descendants of the first slaves are the most numerous and 60% of the inhabitants of Esmaraldas-capitale are under the age of 18 years.

“ May the sisters who come love the poor very, very much. May the sisters who come be passionate in bringing Jesus especially to the most excluded. May they be able to accompany the women and raise up their dignity. May the sisters who come really believe in the presence of the Lord in the midst of the poor people… Yes ! We need them.” (Bishop of Esmeraldas to sister Miriam Navarrete, responsible for the regroupment of the sisters in Latin America.)
